Beast of Reincarnation Parry Timing: Guard, Dodge & Riposte

Beast of Reincarnation parry timing guide: distinguish guard from a perfect parry, dodge red attacks, manage entanglement and unlock the early roll.

Confirmed game info

The released Beast of Reincarnation uses the same defensive input for guard and parry. The difference is timing: press just before impact for the yellow-spark parry; press too early and Emma guards instead. That distinction is the answer to most “Beast of Reincarnation parry timing” questions.

Remapped controls can differ. The table describes the default released-game layout used by the current combat coverage.

Parry versus guard

Press the defensive button close to the moment the attack lands. A successful parry negates the hit and shows yellow sparks around Emma’s sword. An early press becomes a normal guard and consumes the entanglement gauge.

Guard is a safety net, not a permanent shield:

  • Guard spends entanglement.
  • Guard does not generate Koo’s florescence points.
  • An empty entanglement gauge no longer protects Emma from full damage.
  • A successful parry can create an attack-button riposte after the impact is stopped.

This is why repeatedly holding guard feels worse than learning the parry cue. A parry protects Emma while also feeding the combat economy.

Red attacks are dodge checks

When an enemy flashes red, do not keep pressing parry. The released combat rules treat that attack as dodge-only. Use the dodge input shortly before impact, then test the attack-button counter if the opening is safe.

The red flash is a decision cue, not a promise of a universal number of invulnerability frames. Read the animation and leave enough space for the counterattack rather than trading with a second enemy.

Make the early dodge more useful

The starting side-step has short travel. Launch-week combat coverage recommends following the Tracking Shot path in Emma’s skill tree to unlock the full dodge roll early. Check the node in your current skill tree; do not assume a skill cost or level that is not shown by the build you are playing.

The roll complements parry. Use it for red attacks and positioning, while normal attacks remain an opportunity to build resources through correctly timed parries.

Five-minute practice routine

  1. Find one ordinary enemy near a campsite and watch a complete attack without pressing anything.
  2. Press the defensive button deliberately early and confirm that guard appears and entanglement falls.
  3. Repeat closer to impact and look for yellow sword sparks.
  4. Press attack once after the confirmed parry to test the riposte.
  5. Wait for a red flash and use dodge instead of parry.
  6. Stop when the entanglement gauge is low; reset at the campsite rather than practising empty-gauge guard.

For Koo’s resource loop, continue with the Bloom Arts, FP and QTE guide. For elemental matching and the yellow stagger bar, see weakness, stagger and daze.

Timing limits

This page gives the visible controls and outcomes used in the released-game coverage. It does not publish hidden frame data, platform latency measurements or a universal dodge-invulnerability table. Difficulty, patches and custom bindings can change how a timing attempt feels, so keep the current version beside any personal practice note.
